TIMES SQUARE, Manhattan (PIX11) -- On National First Responders Day, a day when hundreds paused in Times Square to say thank you to the everyday heroes who rush toward danger when the rest of us run in the other direction.

Hosted by advocate and comedian Jon Stewart, the First Responders Children’s Foundation celebration spotlighted firefighters, police officers, EMS teams, dispatchers, and more, those whose bravery saves lives every single day.

DEA Supervisor Special Agent Jason Franks was recognized for helping lead major drug seizures and the extradition of cartel leaders.
