Investigators said Michael McBride, 52, thought he was meeting with a 13-year-old boy on Oct. 17 in a Kingston plaza, but it was actually a sting organized by a group called Predator Poachers Long Island.

Police said McBride, who is a registered sex offender, got nervous and left. He was stopped by police in Brentwood and arrested.

Police said the watchdog group had been exchanging messages with McBride since July, posing as the boy. Investigators shared details of those messages in court Tuesday.
