WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A rollover crash in Montgomery County killed a Caney man on Tuesday morning.

It happened on U.S. Highway 75 near County Road 3600, southwest of Independence.

Deputies and emergency crews responded to a report of a car on fire after a rollover crash. After the fire was put out, they found the driver, 21-year-old Heath Ellis, inside.

Investigators said his 2024 Kia left the road for unknown reasons, overturned, hit a culvert and caught fire. Ellis was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
