The husband of a Scots lawyer accused of her murder in the US has been slammed for "victim-blaming" in a statement he made about her death. ‌

June Bunyon, 37, from Arran, North Ayrshire, was allegedly killed and dismembered by her husband , Jonathan Renteria, in Los Angeles, California, on September 11, 2025. He is currently behind bars awaiting trial. ‌

Renteria was arrested by Los Angeles Police Department detectives and charged on suspicion of murder, disinterment, mutilation and sexual contact with human remains. ‌

The 25-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared in court , during a hearing where bail was set at $4million - nearly £3m.
