OTTAWA HILLS, Ohio — Voters in Ottawa Hills will decide on Election Day whether to approve a municipal income tax increase aimed at funding road repairs throughout the village.

Issue 2 on the Nov. 4 ballot proposes raising the income tax rate from 1.5-2%. According to a message posted on the village's website, the additional revenue would be used to maintain and reconstruct 25 miles of streets.

The village has not increased its income tax rate since 1971.

Longtime Ottawa Hills resident Marijo Tamburrino said she supports the measure, citing the visible decline of road conditions.

She says she'd like to see improvements in sidewalks as part of this levy, and says they're a safety hazard for walkers and bikers.
