OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Omaha Disaster Response Team is considering traveling to Jamaica to help residents there deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa .
The nonprofit is waiting on the Blair City Council to give it the OK to continue to operate out of its headquarters in town.
Pictures tell the story. President Ken Gruber and his Omaha Rapid Response volunteers have been around the world providing disaster relief from Haiti to Ukraine.
Last year, they were on the ground in Elkhorn, Waterloo, Bennington, and Blair to help when tornadoes ran through the area .
For the last 14 months, Rapid Response has set up its headquarters behind homes in Blair’s Deerfield neighborhood. They plan to store their equipment here and provide training for volunteers who help in disaster areas.
