BYRON, Ga. — A new AAA study reveals approximately one in three drivers nationwide ignore state move-over laws , putting law enforcement officers, emergency responders and tow truck operators at risk.

Georgia's move-over law requires drivers to slow down and move at least one lane away when they see law enforcement, emergency vehicles, state vehicles or tow trucks stopped on the roadside. However, the AAA study found only 64% of drivers nationwide — less than two-thirds — comply with such laws.

Jeff Orban, who owns Orban's Towing, said people are not following the law like they used to in his 26 years in the business.
