HATHWAY, La. (KLFY) -- Damon Hebert is launching a shotgun shell assembly business called Chenier Shot Shells in Hathaway, Louisiana, focusing on custom non-toxic ammunition.

Hebert, a duck hunter, is turning his hobby into a business after buying out his partner's share in the venture. He is currently awaiting his Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) license to begin selling ammunition online.

"From the get-go, I told him I wanted to be part of it, and through our friendship, he offered to sell it to me," Hebert said.

Hebert takes pride in carefully assembling each shotgun shell by hand, ensuring they meet the mandatory non-toxic requirements for waterfowl hunting in Louisiana. Hebert plans to sell ammunition strictly online initially, hoping to expand the business if it proves successful.
