WASHINGTON – As daylight saving time ends this Sunday, drivers are urged to be cautious on the roads due to earlier sunsets.
Authorities emphasize the importance of slowing down and planning ahead when heading out in the morning.
“We really just need people to slow down, take the extra time, plan ahead if you are going out to work in the morning,” said Officer Sebastian Castilleja from the Kennewick Police Department. “Taking those extra few minutes and increasing your following distance is going to make it so that you are safer wherever you’re trying to go.”
Drivers are reminded to inspect their vehicles for winter readiness. This includes checking seasonal tires, ensuring lights are functioning, and having an emergency bag in the car.
