PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating after a young child was shot while sitting in a car on Tuesday night.

Officers responded to Temple University Hospital around 7:18 p.m., where they found a 7-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. She is listed in stable condition.

Police say the child was riding inside a Honda sedan with two adult family members when someone fired at least five shots along the 3000 block of North Marshall Street in North Philadelphia.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said the vehicle was hit three times, with one bullet striking the girl as she sat in the backseat.

Video appears to show the shooter on foot, according to police.

Further details on the incident, including a description of the shooter, have not been released.
