Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin is one of the most accomplished players in NHL history. The legendary forward has already etched his name in history after passing Wayne Gretzky atop the league's all-time goals list last season when he reached 895 and now he is nearing a milestone nobody has ever reached: 900 goals.
"Ovi" entered the season three shy of the 900-goal mark, but now he's just one shy of reaching heights never seen by a goal scorer. He picked up his first goal of the season on Oct. 17 against the Wild and then added his second, goal No. 899, in a blowout win over the Blue Jackets on Oct. 24.
Ovechkin now has 1,630 total points -- 899 goals and 731 assists -- in his NHL career. When will goal No. 900 finally come? NHL Power Rankings: Nathan MacKinnon, Martin
