Miles Wood scored off a deflection to forge a tie in the third period, then converted from the doorstep 2:53 into overtime to fuel the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.
Jet Greaves stopped Jiri Kulich on a breakaway early in overtime before Wood capped his two-goal performance to give the Blue Jackets their fourth win in their last five games. Wood made his return to the ice following a five-game absence due to an eye injury.
Yegor Chinakhov collected a goal and an assist, defenseman Zach Werenski converted on the power play and Greaves made 35 saves for the Blue Jackets.
Buffalo's Josh Doan and Ryan McLeod each scored a goal in the second period while former Blue Jackets center Josh Dunne netted his first NHL goal in the third.
