DoorDash announced plans to deliver 1 million free meals to families at risk of losing nutrition benefits as part of an Emergency Food Response launching this November.
The initiative, announced on Sunday , comes in response to a potential federal funding crisis threatening Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits during an ongoing government shutdown.
The food delivery company will work through partnerships with more than 300 food banks, pantries and community organizations nationwide that participate in Project DASH , the company’s initiative to deliver on behalf of these organizations, to distribute the meals.
