MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas — For nearly 60 years, the Economic Opportunities Advancement Corporation has worked to strengthen families across Central Texas, and through its Head Start program, that mission is changing lives every day.

Founded in 1966, EOAC operates as a community action agency, offering programs designed to help low-income families move from crisis to stability. One of its most impactful efforts is the federally funded Head Start program, which focuses on preparing children for lifelong success.

“Head Start’s goal really is educational equity,” EOAC executive director James Jesse said. “The number one outcome is making sure kids are kindergarten ready — because we know that’s what sets them up for lifelong success.”
