LIHUE (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kauai police are asking for the public’s help in identifying human remains found on Aliomanu Beach on April 9.
Forensic lab testing and DNA analysis confirmed the remains are those of a male.
Testing was initially delayed because the body was in a state of decomposition consistent with prolonged exposure to the ocean environment, said investigators.
The testing generated a DNA profile that can help identify the person with family reference samples, said Kauai police.
Investigators said clothing was also found along with the remains, including:
A surgical mesh consistent with a previous hernia repair.
Two pairs of long thermal underwear, one labeled Fruit of the Loom and the other Indera.
A pair of green corduroy pants, estimated to be approximately 34 inches
