ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man already convicted of murder will be getting some more time added to his sentence after he escaped from custody in Albuquerque. Josef Toney admitted to killing two women in 2021, when he was only 15 years old.

While awaiting his sentence, he fled from the juvenile detention center where he was being held. He turned himself back into the authorities only 12 hours later.

On Tuesday, a jury found him guilty of escaping. Toney has a sentencing hearing scheduled in two weeks. He received 45 years for his previous double murder trial.
