MIDLAND — Facing a variety of challenges, the Ludington boys varsity tennis team didn’t flinch as it made the trip to Midland for the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 state finals.

The Orioles battled through a poor draw and mid-match changes to secure a ninth place finish. Cranbrook-Kingswood narrowly edged out Detroit Country Day, 34-33, for the team title at the Midland Tennis Center.

“We drew very poorly and still managed to put up some big wins,” Ludington head coach Rob Killips said. “We also had weather challenges with matches bouncing from outdoors to indoors, sometimes mid-match. The players remained focused and it showed. Every flight played very well and it was a great way to finish the season.”
