TROY, Vt. (WCAX) - A Troy man faces charges after police say he used fake money at multiple stores.

Vermont State Police say back in August, 41-year-old Peter SteMarie allegedly used a fake $100 bill at the Troy Country Store.

Police began their investigation and found that Ste Marie had paid with the fake bills at the store multiple times.

Police say SteMarie also used the false hundreds in Newport City as well.

Now, SteMarie has been issued a citation to appear in court to answer to charges of false pretense.
