LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A big decision has been made regarding the future of the site of the former Capital One Tower in Downtown Lake Charles.

At a special meeting tonight, the Lake Charles City Council had to decide if 1 Lakeshore Drive should be home to a large indoor sports facility.

Some members of the council wanted the city to pursue other locations for the complex, including a site on Fitzenreiter Road. At the same time, some members of the public pushed a plan to build a hotel at the Capital One site.

Ultimately, the council voted four to three to approve locating the indoor sports complex at the Capital One site.

There are many more steps to go in this process before the complex is built at the site. 7News plans to talk with city officials about what’s next for the site.
