BEAUREGARD PARISH, La. (KPLC) - The Beauregard Police Jury is considering a 2% tax increase for their Hotel/Motel tax, bringing it from 4% to 6%.

The additional 2% would go to the Beauregard Covered Arena located just west of DeRidder.

“They’re making almost $10,000 a month. Half of that would be a big boon for the arena. With the growth in the parish, you’re going to have more people using hotels, motel tax coming in,” one juror said.

Currently, the 4% tax goes towards supporting tourism efforts in the area.

In order for the increase to happen, it has to be voted on and approved by the residents of the parish during the upcoming elections.
