JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After years of planning, Jacksonville's historic Five Points neighborhood is officially getting its own special district.
Tuesday night, the City council voted 14 - 5 to create the business improvement district, which will let the neighborhood fund and manage upgrades like better security, cleaner streets, and beautification—paid for by local businesses.
“A business improvement district isn’t just about beautification or marketing; it’s about safety, accountability, and protecting the future of a community we care about,” said Alexander Rodriguez, Owner of Rodrigo’s Craft Pizza, during public comment.
“Let's be the change our businesses deserve in this beloved historic, tourism, and community-driven district,” said Dori Thompson, President of Five Points Association
