WASHINGTON — Residents packed a community meeting in D.C.’s Fifth Police District Tuesday night to voice frustrations and hear from U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro about efforts to curb violent crime in the area.

Many attendees said they came to see if Pirro, who took office earlier this year, could deliver meaningful change.

“There’s a disconnect, but I would love to see a positive change,” said India Henderson, who lives nearby.

Community members and local leaders said despite visible police efforts, crime remains a pressing concern.

“Crime is out of control, despite MPD working really diligently,” said former Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner Kathy Henderson of 5D06.
