MADISON COUNTY, Ind. —
Two critically endangered tortoises that were stolen from the Indianapolis Zoo were found safe in a park on Tuesday.
Indiana State Police said an Egyptian tortoise and a Northern Spider tortoise were stolen from the Indianapolis Zoo sometime between 10 a.m. on Oct. 11 and 10 a.m. on Oct. 12. Advertisement
Both species are currently listed as critically endangered species, ISP said. Both tortoises are microchipped, and the Egyptian tortoise is said to have a scar on its underside.
On Tuesday night, Indiana State Police said the two tortoises were found uninjured at a public park in Madison County, Indiana.
