TRINITY, Ala. - East Lawrence High School is taking a stand against student vaping with a new initiative aimed at creating a safer environment. The school has installed Halo vape detectors in bathrooms to combat the growing issue.

The initiative, called the "Safe Environment for All Initiative," was spearheaded by Assistant Principal Logan Pouncey. During a 30-day trial, the detectors sent alerts to Pouncey's phone over 120 times in a single day, highlighting the extent of the problem.

"We use the Halo cloud, which comes with the sensors we have," Pouncey said. "When it gets a hit, it sends immediately to my phone, my watch, and my email."
