DES MOINES, Iowa —
A new facility for emergency medical services is under consideration in Dallas County.
It was discussed at the Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday.
In late September, the current building needed attention. It had mold and a leaking roof.
Since then, the black mold has been removed, roof repairs have been made, new flooring has been installed and the bathrooms have been updated, EMS Director Kristin Brady says.
"It's tired and we need an uplift, a facelift, so to speak," she says.
A new site has been under discussion for several years. The supervisors' meeting included the discussion of a potential site at a lot near River and South Sixth streets in Adel.
The recent issues show the need, but leaders have to balance all the different departments, Brady says.
