NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - An eight-year-old boy in Middle Tennessee is being praised as a hero after he saved his two-year-old brother from choking.

It was a normal afternoon for the Klause family when two-year-old Nick Klause suddenly began choking on a piece of a strawberry.

“I choked on the strawberry,” Nick recalled.

His mother, Laura Klause, says she’ll never forget the sound she heard next.

“Suddenly, I heard my eight-year-old screaming out for me, and it was a scream that I had never heard,” Laura said.

That’s when Nick’s big brother, Luke Meagher, jumped into action. He says his mom had just taught him how to perform the Heimlich maneuver just days before his little brother choked.
