East Lansing — Tom Izzo doesn’t want to think he has a good team, he wants to know it. And his team will find out a little earlier than usual Tuesday when it travels to Storrs, Connecticut, for an exhibition against No. 4 UConn.

Back in the day, only a charity event could get this kind of game on the schedule — like when Tennessee visited Breslin Center in 2023. But relaxed exhibition rules allowed college basketball programs to schedule any four-year institution, including Division I peers, in the preseason. Leave it to Izzo to find one of the toughest matchups possible, tracking with his usual philosophy of scheduling a strong non-conference game to prepare his team.
