NORFOLK, Virginia — After a tough 51–20 loss to reigning MEAC champion South Carolina State, the Norfolk State Spartans don’t have much time to regroup. They’re back under the lights Thursday night, hosting Delaware State in a matchup that reunites two longtime NFL friends now leading opposing programs.
Delaware State is led by first-year head coach DeSean Jackson, who spent five seasons as Michael Vick’s teammate with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2009 to 2013. The two played 51 games together and have remained close ever since.
When asked on the about the challenge of facing a friend, Vick downplayed any awkwardness.
“It’s not hard at all,” Vick said. “This is an amazing opportunity for me and DeSean. They’re doing a great job over there.”
