The much-anticipated artificial rain experiment in Delhi-NCR, led by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, has been put on hold due to inadequate moisture levels in the atmosphere.
The team, which was scheduled to conduct cloud seeding today, decided to temporarily suspend the operation after analysing real-time meteorological data that showed insufficient moisture content in the clouds across the region.
Experts explained that the current weather conditions are not conducive for successful cloud seeding, a technique that involves dispersing substances like silver iodide or sodium chloride into clouds to encourage rainfall.
Officials from IIT Kanpur said the process would resume once the atmospheric parameters, including moisture levels and wind direction, become favourable.
