The Blue Jays will ask rookie right-hander Trey Yesavage to start what's sure to be a critical World Series Game 5 on Wednesday night, the club announced before Tuesday's Game 4 at Dodger Stadium.
The 22-year-old Yesavage gave Toronto four gutsy innings of two-run ball in Toronto's 11-4 Game 1 win , even striking out Shohei Ohtani to open the game.
“It's my goal to go out there and strike out everybody I face,” said Yesavage, who is ranked by MLB Pipeline as Toronto's No. 1 prospect . “So, being able to start off the game on a hot note was definitely a boost in my confidence. It was cool. It was really cool.”
With that start, Yesavage (at 22 years and 88 days old) became the second-youngest Game 1 starting pitcher in World Series history, older than only Ralph Branca (21 years, 26
