A suspect shot and killed a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputy, then crashed a motorcycle on the 210 Freeway while fleeing from law enforcement on Monday, Oct. 27, authorities said.
The incident began about 12:35 p.m. Monday, when deputies responded to a report of an armed man threatening a woman in a residential neighborhood in the 12300 block of Hollyhock Drive in Rancho Cucamonga, according to the sheriff's department.
"Deputies arrived and were immediately shot at by the suspect," the agency said in a written statement .
One deputy was struck by the gunfire and rushed to a hospital by helicopter for treatment, officials said.
