A public interest litigation (PIL) was brought before the Delhi High Court against the upcoming film 'The Taj Story', which stars Paresh Rawal and is set for release on October 31. The move came after the movie's poster sparked controversy, showing a statue of Lord Shiva emerging from the dome of the Taj Mahal. In the latest update, the Delhi High Court refused to urgently hear the PIL. As per Live Law , Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya who was heading the bench asked "Why today? The film will release on 31 (October). When was the certification done?"

As per the plea, the film is reviving a fringe theory that reportedly suggests the Taj Mahal was originally a Hindu temple, a claim that has been dismissed by many mainstream historians and scholars.
