Off-road season is officially here, and Mother Nature made sure the start of the season was one to remember. After all summer of dry desert air, the skies finally opened with a powerful monsoon that brought life back to the washes and canyons around the Colorado River Valley.

We decided to venture into the desert to see what the rain created and witnessed something rare — a roaring 500-foot waterfall tumbling down over a canyon in Secret Pass. The narrow walls of the canyon carried the sound of rushing water, while smaller cascades appeared all along the cliffsides. Secret Pass Wash was a roaring river for a few short hours, producing a waterfall in the Narrows and Bullhead City’s own Mud Falls at Community Park.
