As the United States braces for SNAP food aid to be cut off , 25 states are taking legal action.
Attorneys general and governors from 25 states, plus Washington, D.C., filed a lawsuit on Oct. 28 against the U.S. Department of Agriculture and President Donald Trump's administration, USA TODAY reported. The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court in Boston.
About 42 million Americans rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program , better known as SNAP or food stamps. In Tennessee alone, 690,000 people rely on the government food assistance program.
