Across the UK, one in four adults suffers from acid reflux, with many people experiencing it at some stage in their lives, particularly following large meals.
Those who endure it regularly may be prescribed PPIs like omeprazole to help manage symptoms.
Nevertheless, Dr Punam has outlined why individuals taking the medication must exercise caution, especially if they are using it long-term, and emphasises the vital importance of regular check-ups.
