Halloween is this Friday, Oct. 31, and even if you are not planning on decorating your home or wearing a costume, you can still partake in the fun, as many restaurant chains across the country will be offering deals and discounts on the day – no tricks, all treats.
According to research firm Numerator's survey of just over 5,000 U.S. consumers, over 56% of respondents will decorate their home for the holiday, while 56% will also hand out candy for trick-or-treaters. The survey also found that 38% of consumers will gather with friends or family, and 17% plan to attend a public celebration, such as a parade or fireworks.
Four-fifths of consumers will purchase candy for the holiday, while about half plan to purchase decorations, the survey found.
Regardless of your plans on Halloween this year, here are some deals you can take advantage of to treat yourself on Oct. 31.
Chipotle celebrates Halloween with 'Boorito' promotion, online costume contest
Chipotle wants you to dress up for a Halloween food deal and to participate in an online costume contest.
Each year, Chipotle has its "Boorito" Halloween celebration, giving Chipotle Rewards loyalty program members a holiday deal on food items – if they visit the restaurant dressed in their spookiest costumes on Friday, Oct. 31.
This year, Rewards members who dress up in costume can get a $6 entrée deal (entreés typically cost $11 to $15). It's still a bargain, but in 2019, you could get an entrée for $4, and in 2008, you could get a free burrito – if you dressed as a burrito.
Chipotle has more Halloween activities, too, including a Boorito Costume Contest, which runs Monday, Oct. 27, to Sunday, Nov. 2. Capture yourself in your costume and post it on TikTok for a chance to win one of three Chipotle VIP cards valued at more than $500 (you get 50 free entrée codes).
"Boorito started as a simple way to bring people together on Halloween, and over 25 years it has grown to become the biggest annual celebration of our real fans and real food," said Chipotle President and Chief Brand Officer Chris Brandt in a news release. "Boorito has long served as a runway for our guests to show off their creative costumes, so we're leveraging TikTok to drive additional excitement and inspiration this year."
Chipotle's Boorito event includes several offers for Chipotle Rewards program members and other customers:
- Boorito $6 discounted entrées: Chipotle's food deal is available on Friday, Oct. 31, from 3 p.m. local time to closing time (subject to availability). You can get a $6 regular entrée, which includes a burrito, burrito bowl, single order of three tacos, salad or quesadilla (only available to order via the Chipotle app or on Chipotle.com). Offer is good for in-person only and one discounted item per person; not good for delivery or pickup orders. (Not valid for kids' meals, catering orders or on third-party ordering platforms).
- Boorito Costume Contest: To participate in the Boorito Costume Contest, post your video from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2 with the hashtag #BooritoCostumeContest to be entered for a chance to win a Chipotle VIP Card.
- "Chip-or-Treat": Ongoing now, through Oct. 30, Rewards members who buy an entrée and scan their rewards card get an emailed treat, redeemable for five days. You can "Chip-or-Treat" once a week during the promotion, which runs through Oct. 30.
- Build-Your-Own Chipotle deal: Want to recreate the Chipotle serving line at home? The Build-Your-Own Chipotle meal has all the fixings to feed four to six people. You can get $10 off your first BYOC order with code TRYBYOC through Dec. 31 or until 500,000 redemptions, whichever comes first.
