Special Const. Krystal Wiwcharyk, who has worked in the social services field, wants to use those skills in her role in the new Housing Safety Unit with the Thunder Bay District Social Services Administration Board and Thunder Bay Police Service.

“My background has been working with people who are vulnerable and that will transition to what I will be seeing in some of these buildings,” she said. “We want to see less vulnerable people inside that judicial system. If we can deter them in some form, even one person, we’ve made a change.”

Wiwcharyk is one of four new special constables taking part in the Housing Safety Unit, a pilot project created in collaboration between the Thunder Bay Police Service and Thunder Bay District Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB).
