Weeks ahead of Election Day, the Chieftain reached out to 13 candidates running this November to represent the city of Pueblo as a member of Pueblo City Council.
Each candidate received an email questionnaire consisting of six questions. Answers from the candidates are being published in advance of the November elections to inform voters of candidates' stances and priorities.
Selena Ruiz-Gomez is a licensed mental health care professional running for one of two at-large Pueblo City Council seats up for election in 2025. In total, seven candidates are running in the at-large race. In addition to her work in mental health care, Ruiz-Gomez has experience serving on the board for the Center for Health Progress — a grassroots organization advocating for progressive health care reform.
