A 28-year-old man is under arrest after police say he threatened on social media to kill a Birmingham officer.

Ontarius Jemelle Chester, of Birmingham, is charged with second-degree making a terrorist threat.

On Sunday, said Sgt. LaQuitta Wade, Chester posted the threat on Facebook.

The post read, “I’ll kill a Birmingham police officer da (expletive) Birmingham Police Department, Alabama.”

Wade said police launched an immediate investigation and then obtained the misdemeanor warrant.

Chester was taken into custody Tuesday by the department’s Crime Reduction Team. The arrest was made in the 2600 block of Avenue G in Ensley.

Chester is being held at the Birmingham City Jail.
