Cambodian filmmaker Rithy Panh will serve as main jury president at the Doha Film Festival ‘s inaugural edition, which runs Nov. 20-28 in the Qatari capital.

Panh won the Un Certain Regard Award in Cannes for “The Missing Picture” in 2013, which also scored an Oscar nomination. He more recently won the Berlin Silver Bear in 2022 for outstanding artistic contribution for “Everything Will Be OK” and scooped the Berlinale documentary award for “Irradiés” in 2020, among other prizes. In a statement, the fest praised Panh for his “deeply humanistic storytelling and innovative approach to documentary cinema.”
