Let’s be clear.

To say Premier Danielle Smith and her people outfoxed the teachers IS NOT a judgment on which side is right and which side is wrong.

To say the Smith government out-manoeuvred the Alberta Teachers’ Association, the ATA, IS NOT a statement of blame or a statement of praise for either side.

No, it is an explanation of what went down now that teachers are returning to the classroom and are more angry than when they went on strike earlier this month.

It is just the reality of how the game was played.

Politics is a blood sport and, for the moment, the teachers are doing most of the bleeding.

The teachers rejected two deals in overwhelming numbers.

The ATA then put an offer on the bargaining table costing a lot more money for the Smith government.
