COLUMBUS, Ohio — Buckling up is becoming a problem for teen drivers across Ohio. Last year, there were 44 teen drivers killed in crashes across the state; 81% of them were not wearing a seat belt.
"Use it the way it was designed. It's got to be across your lap and across your chest. You can't be under your arm or behind your back," said Sgt. Tyler Ross with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
This issue is not new for state troopers, but they are also seeing more teen drivers only half wearing their seatbelts.
"We do see that. We see them just clicked behind them that way the beeper isn't going off...that's not the way it was designed. You wear it the way it was designed," said Sgt. Ross.
