PLEASANT GROVE, Utah —

A nearly 2,000-pound pumpkin crushed a 1991 Geo Metro in a dramatic display in Utah over the weekend.

Alan Gebert, the pumpkin grower, decided to drop the massive gourd from nearly 14 stories high.

Gebert had driven the Geo Metro for 35 years before it had stopped running.

Before the pumpkin's drop, he entered it into the Utah Giant Pumpkin Festival weigh-off, where it won first place at 1,917 pounds, according to KSTU.

The event drew a crowd, eager to witness the spectacle of a giant pumpkin meeting its match.
