Wishaw’s MSP has welcomed an additional £1.6 million in Scottish Government funding to strengthen efforts to tackle homelessness. ‌

The new investment will help people across North Lanarkshire and the rest of Scotland to access safe, secure homes and vital crisis support when they need it most. ‌

The funding includes £1 million in additional Discretionary Housing Payments (DHPs) for local authorities to help people move from temporary accommodation into settled homes; £100,000 to expand an emergency fund that outreach workers can use to help those at risk of or experiencing homelessness and £500,000 to further support the Fund to Leave, which helps women leaving abusive relationships to cover essential costs and begin rebuilding their lives. ‌
