PORTLAND, Oregon — On a recent Friday night, the stadium lights kick on over the Parkrose High School football field as people fill the stands. The marching band plays the fight song and a stampede of Broncos football players run onto the field. Everyone has a job to do, including Parkrose senior Kimball "Juni" Napaa. The offensive lineman plays left tackle.
"I gotta keep them from my quarterback," Napaa says. "I just try to leave everything on the field."
It's a job Napaa takes seriously, but not for the promise of praise.
Napaa smirks. "You know, the O-line gets no glory," he says.
To be clear, Napaa has more than one job on the field; he's also a defensive lineman. Last season, Napaa earned first-team all-conference honors on both sides of the ball and Defensive Player of the Year
