PENDLETON — Two tortoises, both from rare and critically endangered species, stolen two weeks ago from the Indianapolis Zoo were found safe and uninjured Tuesday in Falls Park.

Park visitors, while walking on a sidewalk behind the park’s museum near the falls, found a cardboard box containing the tortoises and immediately contacted Pendleton police about 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to an Indiana State Police media release.
