HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Halloween brings excitement and danger for kids. With the holiday falling on a Friday this year, experts are warning parents about impaired drivers.

"Halloween's one of the biggest days for children involved in pedestrian accidents due to drugs and alcohol," said Sarah Perry with Partnership for a Drug Free Community.

Halloween night sees more child pedestrian strikes than any other night of the year, according to the National Transportation Safety Department. Perry says low visibility, pedestrian traffic, and impaired drivers create a more unsafe environment.

"You have kiddos trick or treating and then you have people that are drinking or using drugs driving those same roads," Perry said.
