NEW LONDON, N.H. —

A search is taking place Wednesday as part of the investigation into the unsolved 1978 homicide of a woman found in New London, authorities said.

The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office said that members of the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit and New Hampshire Fish and Game started a search in the area of the Esther Currier Wildlife Management Area in New London.

The search is part of the investigation into the unsolved 1978 homicide of Catherine "Cathy" Millican.

The body of the 27-year-old from Sunapee was found on Oct. 25, 1978, in a wooded area of Route 11 in New London, investigators said.

An autopsy determined she died of multiple stab wounds. Millican was last seen on the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 24, 1978, when she told others she planned to go birdwatchin
