RHODHISS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY HOMETOWN) — As the sun sets over the Catawba River Valley, the monsters come out.

A haunted theme park, owned and operated by Ryan Settlemyer, is full of surprises. On 75 acres just west of Hickory, Lake Hickory Haunts offers 13 attractions, including haunted houses, escape rooms and even live performances -- all with frightful themes.

The owners aim to provide a unique experience for those seeking an entertaining, thrilling, scary and fun-filled experience. Since opening in 2012, Lake Hickory Haunts has continuously added more attractions and thrills each year.

New for 2025 are the Midway of Mayhem Amphitheater, featuring live music and special events; the Nightmare Factory haunted house and Curse of the Mummy & Pharoah’s Treasure escape rooms.
