A community group that helps men overcome social isolation and gain new skills has received a crucial funding boost. ‌

The Ayr & Prestwick Men’s Shed has announced that they have received £20,000 from the National Lottery’s Community Fund. ‌

The cash injection means the group, based in Ayr’s Taylor Street, has enough in reserve to pay their rent and electricity bills for the next two years. ‌

Ronnie Russell, vice chairman at the Ayr & Prestwick Men’s Shed, hailed the new funding and said it’s saved the day for the group.

He revealed: “Our men’s shed charity was struggling to find funds to pay our actual operational expenses, that is our everyday running costs. So this funding is more than welcome. This substance grant will help to pay our rent and electricity for
